have i told you that i teach napoleon?

cause i do. actually his name is caleb. but he has some sweet napoleon-esque glasses.

we are making Christmas cookies in Home Ec this week and next. we (the class) had to do a whole practice set this week so that we can help the little kids next week when they decorate their cookies. we decided that practicing decorating cookies is pretty fun...especially when you need to use up all the icing. he he. of course, only the 7th grade boys went crazy with it. here are a few pictures...the rest are on flickr.

last week in home ec we learned about party planning. don't i get to teach fun stuff?!? i love it!! they learned the elements of party planning and how to be good hosts. it was so great. they decorated my room beautifully! we made some 'snowball' cookies (like mexican wedding cookies for you bakers out there) and 2 wreathes made out of cornflakes and marshmallows. (i supplemented a little with popcorn and no-bake cookies.) doesn't it all look yummy?

we played a game called "pass the parcel". maybe i'm just not hip with all the Christmas party games, but i had never heard of it before. i'm telling myself that we don't play it in georgia...am i right? the deal is, you wrap a present like 15 times...and in each layer you put a little somethin somethin...with the biggest something in the very middle. you sit in a circle and play music and when the music stops, the person holding the present get to unwrap a layer. it was really fun! and the grand prize was ice cream and a coke at school...the lucky winner got ice cream and coke on his birthday! how great is that? here are some shots of the game. (there are more party pictures on flickr.)
this semester has been good...tiring, stressful, funny, frustrating, enlightening, and encouraging. all in all, i'm SO THANKFUL for the opportunity God has given me to teach here. i'm not gonna lie...i did a little kickin' and screamin' when it was first mentioned, but i'm so glad that God doesn't let me give into that kickin'/screamin' attitude. this semester has been such a huge blessing. i love these kids!! and i'm so grateful that i've gotten some teaching experience now. i love that God always knows what He is doing and that He leads us right where He wants us to be.
